NPC Drives SAP Modernization Adoption Across Gas and Electric Field Operations
The Client
One of the Nation’s Largest Combined Gas and Electric Utilities
The Challenge
Prepare field crews and engineering teams across both gas and electric organizations for a multi-year SAP technology Grid modernization program establishing the delivery governance, operational readiness, and workforce capability required to run new systems confidently from day one.
How We Helped
- Stood up program delivery governance across the gas and electric modernization portfolio, establishing PMO structure, executive reporting cadence, and risk and dependency management to coordinate engineering, IT, and field operations stakeholders working from separate plans.
- Assesed organizational readiness across field crews and engineering teams, then redesigned roles, processes, and standard operating procedures so the target operating model was defined and agreed before new systems came online
- Built and delivered a role-based training and sdoption program for field crews and engineering personnel, paired with a stakeholder communication strategy and post go-live sustainment plan to hold proficiency after deployment teams rolled off.
- Established an adoption measurement framework tracking system usage and process compliance including safety-critical procedures through readiness and post-implementation assessments, giving leadership visibility into where adoption was holding and where reinforcement was needed.
The Results
The program achived over 80% adoption across field and engineering teams, measured by system usage and compliance with new processes including safety-critical procedures, and was delivered on schedule. Teams operated in the new environement from day one rather than working through an extended satbilization period.
